
INDIVIDUAL MEDICAL PLANS
Individual health insurance plans are designed for people who are not covered by employer-based medical insurance.
There are presently six companies in Washington state offering a variety of individual health plans. These include: LifeWise Health Plan
of Washington (a Premera Blue Cross family of companies), Regence Blue Shield, KPS Health Plans, Premera Blue Cross, Group Health Options
and Assurant Health. Available plans offer a variety of optional deductibles, office visit co-pays, preventive care and prescription drug
coverage.
Regence BlueShield
Regence BlueShield offers a choice of deductible options and plan designs with the new Evolve plan platform, not to mention access to over
21,000 providers, the national BlueCross/BlueShield network, and the innovative Regence Engine website. Since 1917, they have been providing
their members with the best value in health, dental, vision, life insurance benefits and are the largest affiliation of health care plans in
the Pacific Northwest.

LifeWise
LifeWise is an independent brand and a member of the Premera family of companies. While headquartered in Washington State, LifeWise partners
with MultiPlan/PHCS to offer a nationwide network when you travel. In addition to the popular WiseEssentials plans and the comprehensive
WiseChoices Prime plan, LifeWise also offers catastrophic and HSA plans.

Group Health
Once known for its stance as strictly an HMO, Group Health has vastly altered its networks and plans to introduce a wider spectrum of
providers in the Pacific Northwest. Now Group Health members can choose to stay within the Group Health network of doctors in order to
maintain the lowest premiums and costs, or they can choose a plan that allows them to use the Alliant Plus network of physicians and
specialists that now includes Virginia Mason and the Everett Clinic. The Alliant Plus network plans also allow you to see any out-of-network
provider, with reduced out-of-network costs at First Choice Health and Beech Street network providers. Self-referrals to in-network
specialists are also allowed.

Premera BlueCros
Premera BlueCross does offer individual plans, however in nearly every case, an individual plan from their affiliate company

KPS Health Plans
KPS Health Plans is a Washington State based nonprofit carrier that offers PPO, HSA and catastrophic plans. The company is a wholly
owned subsidiary of Group Health Cooperative, but members have access to the KPS Participating Provider Network, which includes First
Choice Health, Providence and MultiPlan Networks, without a referral, adding up to over 47,000 providers in our state alone.
